The Blu-ray player in my PS3 stopped working, so I had to send it in for repairs. I sent it in to Sony, and they sent me a box to ship it to them and everything. Now, I got an e-mail from them saying they shipped it back to me, only they said "an exchanged PS3." So, I had all the memory on my PS3 (like game saves and downloaded games and music). Is there any chance that Sony would have put my memory onto the exchanged PS3, or am i screwed?
Thanks in advance.

I read the paperwork they gave me. Seems easy. i go through the steps hook up my External hard drive (which I use for tons of things from my computer) it has PLENTY of room on it, but it doesn’t seem to recognize it. I’m mostly concerned about the tons of tv shows I have on there. Thanks in advance! Do I have to reformat my extrenal hardrive or something? Will I ultimately have to buy a new hard drive? How much of a risk is it to send it in without backing up my files?

My PS3 stopped reading any disks, and since my warranty was expired I decided to swap the lens myself. I replaced the blu-ray lens and everything works just fine, I can still see the XMB and I can still even mess around in Home. But my PS3 still won’t read any games, I am right now performing a Full Format on my HDD, apparently that might help. It says it’s going to take about 9 hours. So does anyone else have any ideas as to how I might fix my PS3?
The lens might be defective so I also plan to contact the store where I got it, but after that I have no other ideas other than to call Sony or someone in my city who repairs PS3’s, which means I’ll have to shell out extra cash which I really, really don’t want to do.
Any help is appreciated, so thanks in advance.
