I have a 40 gb ps3 and has been in twice for service. It was in because first it wasn’t reading any games what so ever there was no icon where the game is. Then later it was in because it was freezing during game play. I have this problem again for a third time. I called Sony told them my situation and the guy told me to do a file restore which I did. The guy told that they will replace the whole unit even thought my warrant was out but I have to call back if it freezes. It did freeze again But when I phoned back I did have a problem with the Support worker but I am still getting it replaced. What I am wondering from the google searches i have done are that the replacement Ps3’s are refurbished ones? Are they? Am I likely to have a problem again? Also what would be better, to get it service or to get a replacement? I do not want a problem again and I believe that my Ps3 has something wrong with the whole unit. I’m just wondering from other peoples experiences with there PS3’s and repair places like Sony or MTC. I will be dealing with MTC as I am in Canada.
Also I don’t play alot just when I need something to pass time. And it can’t be from giving it space it has a lot of ventilation space and it cann’t be from a update has I haven’t updated it to the new update that is out.
Also to add I do care of my personal items that cost me money. I have down in my basement where it is nice and cool for it. I DO NOT carry it around. Never has it been dropped or even picked up. It is in PERFECT condition like my laptop, Ipod, ps2, radio, etc. Everything of mine is in perfect condition.

I need to break my ps3 and make it look like a accident please help.

Ok so, I got the YLOD and sent my ps3 in to be repaired thru a waranty by toys r us, i got it back
and its broke again, i dont want to do this every time, i have only had it back 2 weeks, i heard that places that do repair work dont use sony approved replacment parts, IDK if thats true or what but, i just dont trust they will repair it to full working order, and that it will just break again. however my warranty does cover "Accidental Damage from Handling" and when i bought the warranty the manager sold it as "no questions asked" saying if something happend no matter what they will fix it.
so basically im looking for ways to break it beyond repair so i can get my money back and buy a new PS3.

I was considering the pooring soda inside of it while unpluged and saying i spilt it, or something like that think that will work? please help

hi all. my Ps3 has the Yellow light of death and it is such a pain.
apparently the only way i can fix it, is getting it fixed my self or sending back to Sony.
unfortunately they want 140$. And apparently the last time i checked the U.S is in a rescission.
I dont have that kind of money. And my parents wont let me go fix it myself(cause they dont wanna buy a hot gun,…well i never asked..) and so i was wondering if i can get it fixed locally.
i was wondering if Sears can repair it, and how much it would be.

i have 60G Model and its 4 years old.
If you guys have a better way of fixing it, (BESIDES THE BLOW DRYER TRICK. TRYED IT 3 times, failed the 3rd time) please post how you did it.

I am a college student so money is tighter than ever, I tried to fix it myself with repair guide but it’s deeper than blinking light or blank screen, it needs to be professionally fixed. But Sony is $150, if there are no alternatives I would gladly use it, just wanted t hear other opinions.
