Does anybody have any history with a refurbished PS3? I plan on buying one from GameStop (I am a cheapskate, so no I don’t want to spend another ). Are they reliable? Are they legit? Because I saw this one:

P.S My bro wants to trade in his PSP to gamestop. He is only 15 though. My folks don’t want to take him, and my car is in the repair shop. We live in walking distance of GameStop. Can’t he just go by himself and trade it in? Because I am going to visit my cousins in Mexico for 2 weeks. So I won’t be able to take him. What is GameStop’s policy? Is there an age requirement?
The used PS3 is 249.99 the new ones are 299.99 .I don’t want to pay another .

to the first answerer: Dumbass, I wasn’t asking if it was okay to let him go. He does that on his own. He is a big boy. If you read the question, I was asking if he had to be a certain age to trade stuff in.

Please help me. Today I bought Madden 09 Collector’s Edition at Gamestop. I am having trouble loading it. I put in the disc and nothing comes up. NFL Head Coach works perfectly and so do every other game i have for my Playstation 3. I just dont know whether to return the game, have my PS3 repaired or something else. my ps3 is not reading discs anymore due to the led thing being burnt out-sony wants 150$ for out of warranty service?
are there other options? i heard gamestop might accept tradeins and/or repair the led?

Please help I really need to get it fixed before Madden 2010 comes out! I don’t know what’s wrong with it. It turns on, but the screen won’t come up or show.

I was playing a DVD tonight, and then all of a sudden the unit shut down, and when I try to turn it back on, it beeps a few times, and shuts back off. I’ve tried holding down the Eject button, but that doesn’t work. I called Sony, and they said I can send it to them for repairs only if I have a receipt of the purchase. Unfortunately, I bought it used from someone on Craigslist, and no longer have their contact information. Are there 3rd party companies that are reliable to send the PS3 to fix? Perhaps local places in Boston? Any advice would be helpful
I called my closest Gamestop store, and they said to call Sony.
I called Sony on multiple locations. They said their policy is that they can’t help me without paying 0 without a receipt, and I would have to pay that much if the system is older than 1 year. They only provide 1 year warranty on the PS3.
