ps3 repair YLOD 60gig?
i took the big step of disassembling my ps3 60gig today and am getting a donar one tomorrow (wont read discs).
1/should i take the power supply from the donar and try it in the YLOD.
2/ should i try the heating of the motherboard chips?
3/ should i just swap the blue ray drive from YLOD to the donar? if so is it a case of just changing the little motherboard on the blueraydisc, and away we go????
I only want to know from people who have had problems with YLOD?
or with problems with ps3 not reading discs
I can send either of the consoles to sony for repair, but would quite like to repair myself.
In other words what should be the first thing i try.
my YLOD is red green yellow red Beep Beep Beep!
come on ann robinson help
Many thanks.
its actually very easy to take apart!
its just a matter of putting the screws together with cellotape and labelling them stage1 etc.
hope yours gets back soon.

I’m personally packing up my PS3 at this very moment, I didnt get the yellow light of death, however my PS3 completely stopped playing all forms of discs suddenly, I was told that this is because my PS3 is of the old models (One of the first 80g off the assembly line) which had poor quality blue ray lasers/lenses. Thankfully its still in warranty (by less than a month) and I’m sending it in tommorrow. If you have the same problem replacing the blue ray drive I’ve heard has fixed many a YLOD, and you can find some tutorials online on how to do so and such, but if you havnt already broke the warranty I’d probably send it in. But then again were I to have the extensive knowledge of the PS3 I’d probably like to crack her open and fix it myself. Good luck to you, I was heartbroken when mine went kaput.
