My PS3 does not read any sort of Games, DVD’s or CD’s what do I do?
It was yesterday when I realised my PS3 does not read any sort of disks that i put in. It starts up completely fine, it can play anything stored on a hard drive (like access pictures, downloaded games or demos) but it can’t play disks. My manufacturers warranty has expired, so i don’t have any idea how much it is to pay SONY to get them to repair my PS3. If you do know the cost then please put it forward in your answer. Thank you.

Hmmmm…. the blu ray reader may have been burnt out, your best bet is to call playstation for help or first try clening the lenses of the ps3, their may be to much dust on the lenses.
Your optical drive is dead. Sony would charge you a ton to fix it.
What I would do:
1. Check my local craigslist for different PS3 repair guys and ask them how much it would cost to fix a dead optical drive. Probably more than it is worth.
2. Put it on ebay starting at $0.99 and letting it go. Last time I sold a bum optical drive PS3 (80GB model) it went for $213 and some change, however that was before the slim PS3’s came out. So, its a gamble to know how much it would go for. Something is better than nothing
$100 for service alone.
mine done the same thing its not necceraraly the blu ray as everyone seems to think. i had no waranty so i bought a new drive from a compny that specialises in concole repair and installed it but had the same problem. called sony and whatever the problem is it cost £150 for a refurbished one and you get a 90 day waranty which im delighted about cos i got the yellow light of death after a month and gt another refurb for free =D dunno if its still £150 cos it was a while ago i got mine replaced but call them anyway, they swap ur ps3 for a refurb. even the 60GB which they stoped making.
