Are you just dieing to play some Uncharted 2, but your PS3 is broken?

An increasingly common problem among PS3 owners is what is called the Yellow Light Of Death (YLOD). This basically means that the PS3 won’t turn on and it shows a yellow or red light. For this problem there are two solutions:

Send your PS3 to Sony to get it repaired by professionals Buy a DIY repair guide online for about $37 and repair it yourself

If it were me, I would choose the second option: buy a DIY repair guide. My reasons for this is that Sony usually charges about $150 dollars for a repair in contrast to the $37 that it costs to download a repair guide. Also, Sony usually takes 4-5 weeks to repair your PS3, while with a good DIY guide it will take about an hour to get your PS3 up and running.

If you are going to buy a PS3 repair guide you need to make sure you buy a good one so that you are not wasting your money. Many guides are simply bogus and can even make matters worse by instructing you to do things that will damage your PS3. Be careful what you buy, only buy things that other people have written positive reviews on. Despite all the PS3 guides that are scams, there are still quite a few really good ones out there. If you are going to buy one, make sure you buy one with instructional videos and one-on-one customer support, or you may end up with a guide that you can’t understand.
