Can I install a failed laptop hard drive into a Playstation 3?
My sister recently took her laptop into a computer repair shop. On the receipt that came back afterward, it said the hard drive failed because of errors, so they took it out and replaced it with a new hard drive. They gave her back the old hard drive. The old hard drive matches the requirements for a Playstation 3, its 160gb, SATA, 5400 rpm, and 2.5”. My current hard drive in my Playstation 3 is only 40 gb, and it’s almost full. If I was to put my sister’s old laptop hard drive into my Playstation 3, would it be reformatted and work in the console despite it failing in her laptop? I want to try, but I don’t want the hard drive to screw up my Playstation or anything.

WTF? You just told us the hard drive failed. That usually means the hard drive stopped working (which is why the laptop needed a new one). If it wouldn’t work in the laptop, what makes you think its gonna work in the PS3?
If the hard drive is bad, I wouldn’t waste my time installing it. You can buy a larger hard drive from newegg.com for cheap.
