I would like to buy a broken PS3 off Ebay then send it to Sony to repair it. I know it costs like 0 to repair, but is there anything I should know. If I bought it off ebay, will they still repair it?

It plays everything just fine but when i start it up its quiet but like 30 minutes in it starts to become louder until i can hear it. Should I send it in for repair or is it nothing to worry about because I would rather not send it in.

I contacted Sony asking if I could send in my PS3 for repair, even for the warranty is expired, and they said fine, and to agree to the fee of 0
They send an e-mail for an online request form
It’s asking me to fill out the System, Model number, Serial number, and Date of Purchase
Since it isn’t under warranty anymore, it won’t be able to register the date of purchase ( i don’t have it anyway)….It keeps saying make sure to fill out all required fields, but I can’t fill this field since it doesn’t match it
Does anyone know where to fill it out without giving the date of purchase? I can’t find it anywhere

Ive had my ps3 for about two years its model 1 and i just bought madden 2010 yesterday so i know its not the disk. My ps3 sometimes doesnt read the disk , while sometimes it does but freezes about 5 to 10 min into game play. I called sony and they told me things to do they told me to try and restore the system which i did which took 4 hours. After it restored i was having the same problem with madden and other ps3 games. Is there anything i can do any way to exchange or repair the ps3 thanks! Best Answer 10 points!

I was playing a DVD tonight, and then all of a sudden the unit shut down, and when I try to turn it back on, it beeps a few times, and shuts back off. I’ve tried holding down the Eject button, but that doesn’t work. I called Sony, and they said I can send it to them for repairs only if I have a receipt of the purchase. Unfortunately, I bought it used from someone on Craigslist, and no longer have their contact information. Are there 3rd party companies that are reliable to send the PS3 to fix? Perhaps local places in Boston? Any advice would be helpful
I called my closest Gamestop store, and they said to call Sony.
I called Sony on multiple locations. They said their policy is that they can’t help me without paying 0 without a receipt, and I would have to pay that much if the system is older than 1 year. They only provide 1 year warranty on the PS3.
